Slaughter Pen Freeride Park Survey

Friends At Slaughterpen Trails (FAST) & Progressive Trail Design (PTD are conducting a survey for the “Freeride Park” at Slaughter Pen Trail System in Bentonville, AR.

We are entertaining the idea of having PTD develop a Master Plan Design for a new & improved progressive-based park for all skill levels (similar to Valmont Bike Park, Boulder, CO or Trailside Bike Park, Park City, UT). We are conducting this survey to determine the interest of the riding community in such a park, what elements or features they would like to see, and what kind of commitment they would make to taking care of the park.

Trailside Bike Park – Phase 1

First day on the ground in PC. We got the ” Beginner Flow Trail” completly dialed today! We worked from the top down with the mini x and a 4 man ground crew. Reshaped some features that had flow issues and groomed the entire trail.

Next is the pumptrack, skills trail and then on to the Intermediate SS Trail! Hope the rain/snow holds out.

Phase I of Blowing Springs Trail in Bella Vista proved to be our new zenith. Both the design and ride of this trail reach new PTD heights. The location was great and the challenges were many and we raised the bar again with our bridge and Stone work. The whole PTD crew deserves a pat on the back. A great trail system to visit for anyone on foot or bike.

Cory West one of our trail builders and shapers has an alter ego. He is a freakin’ super hero in the road racing motorcycle world. Check out this video of the last laps of the Daytona 200 this past weekend. He is #57. Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow. His teammate is involved in the crash at the finish line. Unbelievable. Turn this up when you watch it.

Blowing Springs Trail Update (Bella Vista, AR)

We have been at it for 3 weeks now and have cut over 8000 feet by machine and 1500 feet by hand. We have carved trail through moss-laden bluff lines, deep valley’s, past old homesteads and cemeteries. This place is truly special. It reminds us of the trails and building days of our earlier years–the quintessential Ozark trail experience. After a year of building more specialized trail projects (i.e. flow tracks, bike parks, park renovations), it is nice to get back to the roots of trailbuilding. Just good ol’ fashion Arkansas Singletrack!

Latest Devil’s Den Efforts

Don’t have finishing pics from these projects yet. Ran out of time or light, one or the other. Will get the final images at a later date, but this is good idea of what is going on. 20 foot white oak round timber bridge on the Yellow Rock Trail and a new set of stone risers on the Devil’s Den Trail. Thanks to Tim Scott and the whole Devil’s Den Staff for being so accomodating to us yet again. Love the office you provide.

Boys and Girls Town Meramec Adventure Ranch

Just finished up at Boys and Girls town in Steelville, MO. In addition to the single track trail we built last year they now have a DH beginner flow trail and a pump track. Thanks to Brett and all the great people at Meramec Adventure Ranch for their hospitality and help with this project. PTD hopes the kids will enjoy railing berms and boosting tables.

This is on private property, but they are open to having the public come out and ride. Please contact Brett Bailey for information.

Last work in Berryville

Woody and the PTD team worked for Eastin Outdoors last winter kicking out trail on Pension Mountain outside of Berryville. The last stones (literally) are being put into place to finish the 10 mile shared use (moto, horse, mt. bike, hike) system. The parking lot is being cleared and all 10 miles of trail are open with a grant in the works to fund phase II. Super scenic. The bluff was literally blasted away to make way for these stairs.
